Robert is a Technical Advisor at GIZ Kenya, within the Energy, Transport, and Climate Change Cluster, working under the Sustainable Mobility unit. He contributes to two key projects: Promoting Electric Mobility in Kenya and IMPROVE (Introducing Measures, Pathways, and Roadmaps for Optimizing Vehicle Efficiency & Electrification).
In the Promoting Electric Mobility in Kenya project, Robert supports efforts to increase the adoption of electric mobility as a strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and promote economic growth. Through the IMPROVE project, he focuses on enhancing the regulatory framework for vehicle efficiency in Kenya.
Robert is passionate about sustainable transportation and renewable energy, driven by a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the transport sector. He believes that integrating cleaner, energy-efficient technologies-such as electric vehicles and renewable energy systems-can transform mobility and strengthen energy independence, particularly for countries like Kenya. His work is centered on promoting environmentally responsible and accessible solutions for developing economies.
Before joining GIZ, Robert accumulated over 10 years of experience in national, regional, and international standardization for renewable energy and electric mobility. As a Senior Officer at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), he spearheaded the establishment of the Kenya Electric Mobility Technical Committee for standardization.
Robert holds an MSc in Energy Engineering from the University of Hull, UK, and a BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He is also a Certified Expert in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
